Do I Have too?
The end of April I joined a group of friends in visiting Havasupai in Arizona. It’s a long but beautiful hike in, with waterfalls that can only be the stuff of dreams! There are many to hike too. Some of the hikes are easy and others are longer and far more complicated! One waterfall we knew we had to visit was Beaver Falls. It was just over 4 miles from our campsite and in order to really start the hike you first had to descend a pretty crazy cliff. There is a massive waterfall right by it, so it’s wet the whole way down. We brought climbing gloves to hold onto the chains there better. We bought nice shoes so that our feet would better grip the rock. We watch videos of others descending to ease our fears. Nothing can prepare you for the actual descent down Mooney Falls. However, the terror was totally worth it for the amazing hike in and the beautiful waterfalls along the way!
This week in class I feel like we focused alot on measuring. Measure your finances to be sure that you are investing correctly. Measure your communication and become a master of storytelling so others will listen to you. Measure how you give, so you know if it is making the best possible difference. Measure everything so when it’s time, you are so well aquanted with your own journey, you don’t have to look back, but can simply move forward with confidence. (But also write it all down so you don’t forget.)
I think the part that hit me most was when we measured our fears. There is so much to be afraid of when starting a business. We were asked to fill out a chart and think of our business ventures and just hash our our fears! They mentioned that pretty much all of our fears never come true. I know that was the truth of our Mooney Falls descent! It was empowering to work through what I was afraid of! And you guys… what is on the other side is totally worth it!
